Video- Planet Earth BBC

My hubby bought this series for us for Christmas. It's really wonderful. We do not have TV, nor do we regularly watch t.v. or DVD's, so it's really been a long time since we have watched any modern nature shows. So I was stunned at the quality/clarity of the video on these dvd's. The camera they use was very powerful. A few other neat things about them:
  • The use lovely classical music to go along with the shows.
  • They don't seem to be pushing agendas, rather focusing on the subjects of the films.  (Very refreshing!)

  • The filmed footage is awesome. They managed to find footage that has not been seen before.

So these can be really good for adding to the science program. So if you get these, keep you globe handy as you watch them. Let the kids look up the places they mention. We  were really impressed when we watched the video on the Mountain ranges. You might think a mountain is a mountain, but when you see oh, six or eight ranges right after each other you will really notice a difference in the rock formations. Very impressive lesson about rocks for 7 year old boys!
